Bikes, hob nobs and odd named bikes

On a rather average Sunday evening, in fact its was Mothers day mum had just received a well thought out, greatly considered 'garden clock' from Rich. The conversation moved away from mocking the clock and meandered along, skiting between talking the piss out of Tony (our Dad aka 'doubting Thomas') and being told how intelligent Sam is (Ian's 2 year old nipper) until we got onto talking about Eddie Izzard's run around Britain. It was at this point and following Tony's fifth mildly related anecdote about something or other that the notion of a bike ride cropped up. "That could be an idea" was murmered over a hob nob swiftly followed by 'Doubting Thomas' saying "No chance" the challenge was on!

Within days Zoes places's had been contacted, routes looked at, pubs found, nights outs penned in. and the wheels are well and truly turning. Helen will be setting up a justgiving site soon and so on and so on.

There are just a couple of minor details that need ironing out, small creases that need addressing nothing to worry about honest.

1) The last time Helen rode a bike it was decorated in Barbie colours and had stabilisers.

2) The last bike Rich rode was Helen's pink Barbie bike.

3) Neither own a bike

4) Its a very long way!!!

5) Eating healthy means having salad on by 2am Kebab.

Things have changed I have addressed point 3 and here she is in all her colours, I found it stood up pristinely in the back garden, as if delivered by the cycle fairies. Ok I know what people may think and I completely agree its in need of some air in that front tire, the breaks need tightening, racing tires need adding, the hose pipe needs moving and yes our window sills need repainting
The real 'Steed' will be on its way in the next week, I need to name it when I get it, I am thinking of calling it John Ryan!!!!

Bring on those hills

  1. Haha brilliant! I can't believe I wrote exactly the same layout to post, accept as well as hob nobs and talking about Sam, I mentioned Nan's League Table and slagging of the neighbours cats!

Pop (our granddad) painted my Barbie bike red, so really I think its now a contender! In other news, I will be acquiring a bike this week until I can get my hands on a proper set of wheels to rival 'John Ryan'. I need some suggestions for my name though....!
